How to avoid application rejection!
The most common problem for first-time visitors is having their visitation application rejected. Below are a few steps to help avoid harassment.
- Pre-approved visitation: The best way of getting visitation pre-approved is by asking your inmate to include you on his visitor list. Mail your inmate right away to do so.
- Fill up the right information: Next part is to fill up all the information in the application properly. Almost all prisons conduct background checks before allowing visitation.
- X Felon Or Convicted Criminal l: Out of many reasons, this is one of the major ones. If you have been convicted of a felony, are currently on probation, have a court case, have an outstanding warrant, etc., your application will be denied. There is nothing to do in this situation.
- Protective Order on inmate: If the inmate is currently under the protective order from the court, your application might be rejected. This is to maintain the security of your inmate.
- A previous case of misbehavior during a visit might get your current application rejected.
- Disobeying of Visitation rules: On the day of the visit, you should be prepared with the set of rules and regulations to be followed during your visit to the facility. Each facility has its own set of visitation rules.Try our prison search.
Additional Tips for a Successful Prison Visit
- Check Visitation Schedules: Each facility may have different days and times for visitation. It’s important to confirm these in advance, as some prisons require appointments and may have limited slots.
- Dress Code: Most prisons enforce a strict dress code for visitors. Avoid wearing revealing clothing, hoodies, hats, or items with offensive graphics or language. Review the facility’s guidelines before your visit.
- Bringing Items: Typically, you cannot bring personal belongings into the facility. Some locations allow a small amount of money or specific documents, but most items must be left in your vehicle or a locker. Check the rules about what’s permitted.
- Security Checks: Be prepared to go through metal detectors and have your belongings searched. Bring your government-issued photo ID and any required documentation.
- Children and Special Needs: If you’re bringing children or someone with special needs, contact the facility in advance. Some prisons have additional requirements or accommodations for minors and individuals needing assistance.
- Behavior During Visit: Maintain respectful behavior and follow staff instructions at all times. Physical contact is usually limited and monitored. Breaking the rules can result in termination of the visit or future bans.
- Travel Arrangements: Many prisons are in remote areas. Plan your route and consider traffic, parking, and any required security procedures that may add time to your visit.
